Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu / Grappling Tournament

Red Dragon MMA is pleased to host our first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu / Grappling tournament, Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Red Dragon MMA Studio. All proceeds are going towards the "Knock down the wall fund" to enable use to double our floor space by expanding into the space available next door.

Bring the family out for a day of food and fun. Red Dragon MMA will have a bounce house and games for the kids and will be serving hamburgers and hotdogs fresh off the grill. Additional concessions will also be available. The public is welcome to come in and watch Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling specialists of all levels test their skills against other Martial Artists.

RED DRAGON MARTIAL ARTS TO HOST OPEN HOUSE TO CELEBRATE PARTNERSHIP WITH CAPOEIRA HERANCA GUERREIRA

PENSACOLA, FL - Red Dragon Martial Arts will host an Open House from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2009 to celebrate the inclusion of Capoeira Heranca Guerreira into the Red Dragon family. Students of all ages and levels will be demonstrating Capoeira, Hapkido, Kyukido, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) at the Red Dragon studio, located at 6301-10 N 9th Avenue on the corner of 9th and Tippin. The public is welcome to participate in classes or watch the demonstrations. Red Dragon Martial Arts will be giving away enrollment specials during this open house event.

In a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere, participants of all ages and abilities will learn techniques to avoid becoming a victim of violent crimes. Children in particular will learn effective techniques to triumph over bullies and potential adult attackers.

Capoeira is traditionally performed with a dance-like flavor and to live musical accompaniment. The Afro-Brazilian art form combines elements of martial arts, games, music and dance for a full body aerobic workout. The moves range from tumbling exercises to sparring sessions in which students spin around as they trade and duck one another's sweeping kicks, timed to the music. Capoeira Professor Assumar Borges and students will demonstrate the "roda", the circle in which Capoeira is played.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, in 2008 a violent crime occurs every four minutes, 18 11 seconds in the state, and there are 455 548 known registered sex offenders in Pensacola alone. Hapkido employs powerful joint locks, close strikes, and application of the body's natural pressure points to quickly control an attacker. Because principles of Hapkido work effectively by using the attacker's own force against them, a potential victim does not need to have great strength to effectively disable them. Chief Instructor Eric Conley and his students will include demonstrations for escaping grabs and holds as well as techniques to defeat and subdue an attacker.

Three new styles now available: Capoeira, Kenpo and Muay Thai

Capoeira

Red Dragon Martial Arts is proud to announce the addition of three new martial art styles; Capoeira, Kenpo and Muay Thai.

Taught by Assumar Borges, Capoeira is a martial art traditionally performed with a dance-like flavor and to live musical accompaniment. Capoeira meets on Turesday, Wednesday and Saturday at Red Dragon Martial Arts and on Fridays in Fort Walton Beach. Come experience a full body aerobic workout while learning the Afro-Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, games, music, and dance.

Brizalian Jiu-Jitsu

Alex Sin Fin brings the fighting styles of Kenpo and Muay Thai. Kenpo is a system of martial arts characterized by the use of quick moves in rapid-fire succession intended to overwhelm an opponent. Muay Thai is the devastating "science of 8 limbs" form of kickboxing originating from Thailand. Unlike traditional kickboxing, Muay Thai allows low kicks, elbows, and knees and is considered among the elite striking arts. The name "The Art of Eight Limbs" refers to the parts of the body used by a Muay Thai fighter to strike with: the fists, the shins and feet, the knees, and the elbows. Currently taught on Sunday evenings, morning classes will soon be offered Monday through Thursday.

With Kyukido, Hapkido, Brizalian Jiu-Jitsu, the addition of Capoeira, Kenpo and Muay Thai, Red Dragon Martial Arts is able to offer you a wide range of martial art styles and a strong foundation towards Mixed Martial Arts. Check out our Schedule for class times!

First Kyukido Studio in Florida Opens in Pensacola!

Red Dragon Martial Arts, a martial arts studio, has announced a new location at 9th and Tippin in the Innerlight Shopping Center.

In response to recent headlines of violent crime in Pensacola, three free self defense classes are being offered Monday through Thursday from 6-8pm. In a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere, participants of all ages will learn techniques to avoid becoming a victim of violent crimes. Children in particular will learn effective techniques to triumph over bullies and potential adult attackers. The art can be adapted to any ability or disability, making it ideal for people who have concerns about flexibility, arthritis, knee problems, etc.
